Past:
Aaron was born in Hopi, Arizona but grew up an hour south in Winslow where his father owned a small bookstore. When Aaron was eight years old, his father Eugenio came across a book written in a language neither he nor his wife Yoki had ever seen.
Out of curiosity, Aaron picked the book up. Upon his first touch, images began to flash in his mind. Aaron immediately dropped the book and began screaming in terror.
A few hours later, he was able to describe to his parents what had happened. Aaron tried to recreate the moment but nothing he touched worked, not even the book with the strange writing. While his dad continued to be skeptical, his mom had heard the tales of people on the reservation gifted with the power of insight.
The next day, Yoki took Aaron back to her home in Hopi, where she hoped the elders would be able to offer more information. It did not take the elders long to confirm that Aaron did have the gift of insight. They offered to help him understand his gift so he could control how and when he received the visions.
Aaron spent all of his free time mastering this new and strange ability and one summer day when he was twelve, that practice paid off. He had tried several times to get another reading from that mysterious book but nothing ever happened. Until this day.
On this day, the history of the book opened itself to Aaron. He was not only shown where the book came from and who the author was but also how to read the text.
The book in his hands was an old Tenjin text that recounted the exploits of Yūsha, a little-remembered Tenjin that lived over 300 years ago. Upon reading the book, Aaron looked up more information on Yūsha and other long-forgotten Tenjin. This led him to become a minor treasure hunter.
The next summer, after finding his thirteenth lost Tenjin text, Augury and Nico made a visit to the bookstore. After briefly chatting about how Aaron had been able to find so many long-lost texts, Augury invited Aaron to come to live at Pacific Estate and become a Tenjin artifact hunter.
Aaron’s parents were against him going away before graduating high school but after talking to Nico, they agreed that it was a good idea. Eugenio even agreed to donate the Tenjin texts to Pacific Estate so they could be fully studied.
Aaron spent the next few years learning about the Tenjin ways while rummaging through the archives, looking for clues and leads for texts and lost artifacts. Aaron has gone on to locate and decipher hundreds of lost texts, many of which have expanded upon the history of Ten’ja and her original followers.
Aaron has also found several artifacts that have belonged to Ten’ja and other early Tenjin. Some of these artifacts have proven to still hold remnants of power left behind by their original owners. One of these is the bracelet Aaron wears that allows him to call upon spirits to help fight by his side.
Other artifacts found include bones, weapons, and paraphernalia from original Tenjin followers.
Present:
Aaron is now searching for the most sacred relic in the Tenjin faith: the blood of Ten’ja.
